You'll notice I'm fairly inconsistent in translating small text outside the bubbles, so let me explain my thoughts on which ones I choose to translate. Basically, for everything where I don't think it'll influence your interpretation of the page, I'll leave it untranslated (this includes most sfx). In addition sometimes the text is so small that I actually have trouble reading it since I'm not that familiar with handwritten Japanese.

You can really see how differently the anime decided to do things here. The characters still have different nicknames for a while before (presumably) going into the nicknames they have in the anime. Also, early Futaba design is cute/10.
